Nearby Sherando Park offers a fishing lake, hiking trails, athletic fields, playgrounds, picnic areas, an outdoor pool, disc golf, pickleball, a bike park, and outdoor fitness equipment. 

The Cedar Creek battlefield area also provides walking and hiking opportunities, including the Morning Attack Trails south of town. The Cedar Creek Battlefield Foundation maintains approximately 350 acres of preserved battlefield landscape, trails, a museum, and educational programming.

Cedar Creek and Belle Grove National Historical Park is Middletown’s signature attraction, offering visitor centers, museum exhibits, ranger-led programming, driving tours, and outdoor trails. Belle Grove features an authentic 1797 manor house, historic outbuildings, gardens, an orchard, and views of the surrounding Shenandoah Valley. 


The Cedar Creek Battlefield Foundation Museum and Visitor Center offers exhibits, guided and self-guided tours, trails, living-history programs, and an annual reenactment. 

Additional nearby destinations include Skyline Caverns in Front Royal, Dinosaur Land in White Post, Old Town Winchester, the Shenandoah River, and the Front Royal entrance to Shenandoah National Park and Skyline Drive.
